This policy covers how Cover Software Group LLC ("we," "us") collects and uses information when you visit coversoftwaregroup.com or get in touch with us. If any of this is unclear or you want us to delete information you've shared, email hello@coversoftwaregroup.com.
What we collect
Information you give us
If you fill out our contact form, we collect what you send us: your name, email address, and the message itself. If you choose to include a phone number, we collect that too. We only use this information to reply to you and to keep a record of the conversation.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, a few things are logged by the tools we use to run it:
- Google Analytics 4 records which pages you viewed, how you got to the site, how long you stayed, what country and region you're in (not your precise location), the browser and device you used, and a randomly generated visitor ID. This helps us understand what people find useful on the site. IP addresses are anonymized before Google stores them.
- Netlify (our hosting provider) keeps standard server logs: IP address, user-agent string, requested page, timestamp. These are used for security and reliability, not marketing.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets a small number of first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_<property-id>) to distinguish unique visitors and remember session state. These cookies expire after up to two years. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. You can also opt out of Google Analytics entirely by installing Google's opt-out browser add-on.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, retargeting, or any third-party cookies beyond what Google Analytics sets.
Who we share information with
We don't sell, rent, or trade your information. We use two service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Netlify, Inc. hosts the website and processes contact form submissions. Read their privacy policy.
- Google LLC provides analytics through Google Analytics 4. Read their privacy policy.
We'll also disclose information if we're required to by a lawful subpoena, court order, or similar legal process, or if we believe it's necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.
How long we keep it
Contact form submissions are kept in our email and Netlify Forms dashboard until we no longer have a business reason to keep them, typically no longer than three years after our last contact with you. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months and then automatically deleted by Google.
Your choices
You can:
- Ask what information we have about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete it.
- Opt out of Google Analytics using the add-on linked above, or by blocking cookies in your browser.
- Simply not send us a message through the contact form.
To make any of those requests, email hello@coversoftwaregroup.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Children
This site is intended for business owners and decision-makers. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Links to other sites
Our site may link to third-party websites (for example, from our blog posts). Once you click through, you're subject to that site's privacy practices, not ours. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to how we handle information, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we'll also note it on the homepage.
